Harry "Huck" Buchert, Sr., 84, of Genoa City, formerly Richmond and Delavan, WI, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 peacefully at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI. Harry was born in Richmond on March 7, 1927, the son of the late Otto and Mae (Pederson) Buchert. He was a graduate of Richmond High School in 1945. He was married to June Behrens on May 15, 1948 in Greenwood, IL. He was a superintendent for Lakeland Construction and Miller Formless in McHenry. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 150 for 59 years, retiring in 1992. He worked for McHenry County Sheriff Dept as a process server. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman 2nd Class in WW II. He was a member of Paul C. Hoffman American Legion Post #253 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Richmond. He was a member of the Richmond Fire Dept for over 40 years and helped restore two original fire engines, founder and organizer of the Richmond Rescue Squad, organizer and charter member of the Richmond Lions Club, served as Richmond Village trustee for eight years, served as auxiliary deputy for McHenry County Sheriff Dept, charter member and past president of Richmond Trailblazers Club, served as safety instructor for Wisconsin Snowmobilers, snowplowed for McHenry Township in winter and was a member of Gold Wing Assoc. Harry is survived by his wife June, two sons Harry (Pat) Buchert Jr.and Dewayne (Mary) Buchert. both of Genoa City, WI; three grandchildren John (Nicki) Buchert of Twin Lakes, Todd and Amy Buchert, both of Genoa City, five great grandchildren; two sisters, Virgene (the late Frank) Zarnstorff of Richmond, IL., Mary Lou (the late Harold "Stub") Pacey of Pearl City, IL. He was preceded by a brother Robert, two sisters Beulah Buchert and an infant sister. Visitation will be 4 to 8 pm Wednesday Oct 26 2011 at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home 10011 Main St Richmond. Funeral services will be at 11 am Thursday Oct 27, 2011 at Grace Lutheran Church 6000 Broadway Richmond, IL, with Rev. Andrew Tyrrell officiating. Interment will be in Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, IL with military honors. Family request donations to Richmond Firefighters Assoc. Building Fund 5601 Hunter Dr Richmond, IL 60071.
