Leslie P. Meusling

Leslie P. Meusling, 97, of Hebron, IL, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 while in the company of his loving children. Leslie was born in Hartland Township on November 13, 1915, the youngest son of the late Christ and Marie (Roeder) Meusling. He was a graduate of Genoa City High School in 1933. He was married to his loving wife Ardis Harlow on June 21, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hebron, and she died August 8, 2012. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a WWII army veteran, Technical Sergeant Tenth Air Supply Squadron serving in the Rhineland Campaign in the European Theater. He was a member and Past Commander of Eugene Drill Post #606 of the American Legion in Hebron, IL. He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge #1289. Les and Ardis spent many Friday nights at the Moose dancing the night away. He retired from Woodstock Die Cast in 1975 after 35 years. He was a little league coach, avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. Leslie is survived by four daughters, Linda (Don) Day, of Belvidere, IL; Mary Lee (Mike) McCauley, of Harvard, IL; Judy (Steve) Coulman, of Harvard, IL; Lee Anne (Ken) Schaid, of Hebron, daughter-in-law Shelly Meusling of Hebron; 12 grandchildren David Zimmerman, Sara (Jim) Mark, Christopher Meusling, Cyndie Meusling, Faith Meusling, Bryan McCauley, Grace McCauley, Susan (John) Kastning, Beth Coulman, Lisa Rogers, Daniel Schaid and Eric (Blanca) Schaid; three step grandchildren Jessica (Mark) Hunley, Greg (Colleen) Geils and Kelly (Alex) Sabo, 11 great grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with family. He was preceded by his beloved son Robert L. Meusling on March 21, 2011, his parents, brothers Arthur, Paul, Alfred, Rudolph, Lorens, and Walter and sisters Anetha Pelican, Marie Grabbert, Lillian Streich, and Elsie Gehrke. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday August 4, 2013 at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home, 9625 Main St. Hebron. Funeral service will be at 11 am Monday August 5, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 9812 St. Albans St. Hebron, IL 60034, with Rev. Sarah Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
